Dunmanway has lots to offer in the way of festivals and attractions. Spread through-out the year they attract locals and tourists that create an atmosphere second to none.
One of the oldest fairs in Ireland dating back to 1693, this annual event takes place over the August bank holiday weekend. Nothing can beat the exciting thunder of hooves and great atmosphere that comes with point-to-point racing and trotting. Mixed with market traders, great food and live entertainment this is a festival not to be missed.
• There is Road Trotting races in February which is a great days entertainment for all the family
In July we have the Agricultural Show which traditionally is a fun day out for all the family.
Apart from the hotly contested classes for horses, ponies, cattle, sheep, goats, poultry, domestic arts, horticulture and dogs, we have a wide variety of activities to keep our spectators entertained. There is always a wide range of sideshows; including Macra na Feirme competitions, most appropriately dressed lady and gent, bonny baby competition and much more. We hope to see you there!
Sam Maguire Festival
In September we have the Traditional Festival in honour of Sam Maguire. This is a wonderful local festival with live traditional music, good food, street entertainment especially geared for the children and of course mighty craic.
St Patricks Day
We celebrate St Patrick’s Day with our own parade, which involves all the local community, especially the schools, the Community Council and local businesses. Included in the parade are vintage cars, vintage farm equipment and tractors, the local fire brigade and this coupled with street entertainment and live music makes for a great day’s fun.
